Making Changes that Count

Every true professional wants to get better at what he or she does for a living. The challenge is to move beyond wishful thinking to actual, positive change. Below is a proven coaching activity you can use for yourself as well as a team you might lead.

See the six areas listed? They are vital for high-impact performance. Go through the list and answer the first set of questions (Strengths) for yourself first. Then, go back and work through the second set of questions (Growth Areas). Next, begin to work through the two lists with your team and lead them toward discovering their own insights. Always start with the first set (Strengths), then move to the second set (Growth Areas). Follow up with each person in private. Check your results once a quarter, make adjustments, and keep going. You will be pleasantly surprised at the good things that happen.
